What is the Gratitude Effect?

What is the Gratitude Effect? - Soul Breathe

Gratitude depends more on attitude than on circumstances.

The emptiness we feel when our mind convinces us that something is missing in order to feel whole and grateful is nothing more than the greed of our thoughts the constant need to overflow the mind with more. This is how we stop focusing on the present, on what we do have, on what we should feel grateful for. Gratitude cannot be conditioned by what we lack; it must be practiced for what is already present. What we have is the now, not something that comes from a space-time in the future or the past.

The best practice begins when we start to see the sacred in the things that may seem basic or simple to many from having a bed to sleep in, to a pair of socks to wear on your feet. When we detach the mind from its superficial beliefs, we begin to feel gratitude for those things we often take for granted blessings that not everyone has, although they may have others. Gratitude is not about comparing who has more blessings; it is about appreciating the positive, no matter how small it may seem.

What you take for granted may be someone else’s deepest desire. Waking up with this mindset every day will help you activate the gratitude effect an energy that can shift your days for the better. The gratitude effect is the enemy of anxiety and of the constant need to investigate a future we cannot control. The only thing we can do for the future is to take action in the present that supports its arrival. But both the mind and soul must stay grounded in the now.

And most importantly, focus your gratitude from the moment you wake up because that alone is a blessing.

At Soul Breathe, we want to walk with you in your daily life and remind you to feel grateful even for the opportunity to drink water, to see the colors around you, or to be able to write down your thoughts in a notebook. In the simplest things lies the gratitude effect. Never stop feeling thankful. Trust the process.
